the everydays project

Inspired by the work of 3D artists like Mike Winkelmann (a.k.a Beeple), the “Everydays” project is exactly what it sounds like. Each day in 2020, I created a new artwork from start to finish, aiming every day to try something new or practice a specific skill. When I began I worked primarily in Cinema4D but added a variety of programs to my workflow, including Octane, Photoshop, Houdini, After Effects, EmbergenFx, World Creator, X-Particles, Forester, and Illustrator.

In 2021, I decided to further focus my efforts and initiated the “Zero to Thirty” challenge. In addition to creating and posting a piece of work every day, I chose to hone my skills on less familiar programs. Instead of using a blend of tools from week to week, I focused on a single program each month. For example, I spent all of January working in Substance Designer, February in Blender, March in Redshift, and so on.

Not all of these artworks are winners! However, there is a great variety of skills practiced in this project, including character posing and animation, color theory, lighting, rigging, shading and texturing, modeling, sculpting, volumetric and liquid dynamics, particle simulations, physics simulations, and more. This project has been an excellent learning opportunity, yielding a great body of work and some of my best pieces far.
